Bartel & Company is a Middlebury based Real Estate and Auction Company serving the entire Michiana area. The company was founded in 1988 by Brad B. Hooley, who had worked for the local Coldwell Banker franchise prior to striking out on his own. Brad remains the Principal Broker and Owner of Bartel & Company. The "Auction Division" stays very steady with several on-going company owned auctions. In early spring, the Elkhart County Multi-Property Real Estate Auction is scheduled, marking it's second year for this event. Two to three Collector Car Auctions are held a year, two being held at the Goshen Fairgrounds, one in April and again in August attracting Buyers and Sellers from as far as 9 states. Additionally, two very large consignment auctions are held in the Spring and Fall at the Fairgrounds with over 100 clients selling everything from old coins, to office equipment to building supplies to cars, bulldozers and school buses. Always a popular event to attend! Filling up the rest of the company's auction calendar are Real Estate Auctions - both Land and Home (one of Bartel & Company's specialized areas of selling), Industrial & Commerical Liquidations, Estate & antique Auctions, and Farm & Nursery (Landscape) Auctions. Call and let us put YOUR auction on the calendar this year too! There are 8 "seasoned" Auctioneers including Brad who work for the company on a regular basis as well as 7-15 additional auction and office staff. The "Real Estate Division" stays busy with home, vacant land, farm and commercial listings. Bartel & Company's "Development Division" is presently in their 6th phase of "The Summit", an upscale housing neighborhood just outside the town of Middlebury on CR 14 in the former "100 year old" Krider Nursery, where the streets are named after famous mountain ranges from Ranier Dr. to Shavano Peaks. The large wooded lots with both flat and rolling terrain are proving to be some of the area's most desirable home sites according to the the Builders Association of Elkhart County, who had chosen "The Summit" for it's 2002 & 2006 Parade of Homes Central Site. Brad, along with his wife Laura, who also works for the company, are also 3rd generation owners and operators of Hoobirk Corporation, the family Holstein and Jersey Farm, located in Middlebury, and founded in the 1940's.
